When he eats, which is not an event to be taken for granted, he kinda gets the shimmies. And this is kinda what it looks like.
Fall adventures: Carolina…priceless gem
It’s a tarheel’s slice of heaven: Chapel Hill in the fall. It has a breathtaking, unique beauty and I had a chance to share a bit with Eric. After all our time together, we actually haven’t been to Carolina’s campus together. We checked Wake off a few years ago.
I truly forgot the magic of being on campus. It was love at first sight and so special to relive the moment and feeling with Eric. The energy, the history, the old oak trees and stone walls, the Well, the Bell, the brick sidewalks…and best of all: the memories. I love that place. It’s a school of the people and I am so thankful my road led to the Thrill of the Hill.
We also went through the KD house. I got to show him my sorority pics and classes and the house where I lived. So gorgeous!
Finally, we grabbed and shake and soda at Suttons. They didn’t still have my pics up which was disappointing, though it has been 15 years…so I suppose the ones of Roy and Ray Felton take precedence.
Not so many pics, but it’s fun to add Eric to the best of my memories of Carolina.
Kissing my love at Davie Poplar – a first for me! One of us was more excited for a kissing selfie than the other 😉
Fall adventures: NC
We had an absolute blast in NC this weekend! We stayed with the Players, went to the Carolina vs Wake game, and celebrated Winston’s 6th birthday.
Highlights for me: time with Jenn, Mary, Jon, Fletcher, and my sweet six year old godson, Winston! Oh, and being on the field for the Carolina game. And being back on campus – separate post for that.
Highlights for Eric: barbecue, tailgating, and fulfilling his dream of getting upstairs in a Carolina sorority house – KD no less…
Highlights for Harry: playing with Winston and Fletcher, getting cookies for pooping and peeing (not from his parents), Rivers (the dog), “Anna” (Nana), and painting Rameses’ horns.
Lowlight: Lack of sleep.
Painting Rameses’ horns. Thanks, Tate!
At Winston’s Chuck E Cheese superhero birthday where Eric spent $20 worth of tokens for Harry to ride the green “Percy” train over and over:
Fall adventures: MA
Awesome weekend in the Berkshires with Matt, Emily, and Clara a few weekends ago: Apple picking, cider and donuts, pumpkin patch, and a farm. I also built the first fire of the season and Eric dominated Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit. Emily cooked – amazing as always. And the guys watched some football. What more could you ask for from a weekend in the mountains with friends? Love the fall!
For the record: a few videosÂ
Here are some unrelated videos because I just can’t stop playing them over and over again. I’m not sure if they’re entertaining for others but just in case, I wouldn’t want you to miss out.
First moments at the beach this fall:
At the pancake shop with Thomas:
Pajama gold
We struck gold with pajama gifts lately. Jennifer sent us Thomas pjs, which can double as daytime clothes (according to Harry at least). Hana’s mom works at a pj design company. Who knew?? But we got Paw Patrol and Mickey Mouse from her! Heaven for this kid.
Bud’s new babysitting gig
I can’t get enough of this little baby sweetness! So thankful for the afternoon with Cole. He is sleeping and eating and loves the snuggabunny and swaddle. Aunt Katie and Uncle Jake are amazing parents and still find lots of hugs and games for Bud.
Harry was great today. He’s learning to share his mommy and did well reading to and playing with the baby. Harry was gentle and loving…well, other than a few blocked inadvertent shots and reminders to be sweet.
These pictures are some of my all time favs!!
Cole was sweet enough to share his activity mat with his big cousin. It required my ninja reflexes to keep Harry from invading Coles personal space too much, but we managed. Look at how tiny Cole is compared to Bud!?

I see a little fish running by me
Harry has been singing this Brown Bear song lately. I assume he learned it at school, but there’s a chance he just made it up. It’s the tune of Twinkle Twinkle / ABC Song. And it starts like the book. But then Brown Bear sees Black Cat. Black Cat sees Green Frog. Green Frog is followed by Yellow Sun, Red Apple, White Dog, and Mommy. I don’t have a color, to which I’m grateful.
In any case, he was singing it all weekend while we were at the beach.
He couldn’t have been any happier among the waves, sand, shells, and birds. He’s a little fish who loves chasing the birds. His carefree spirit is inspiring. May he always hold a little bit of that beach joy in him.
The Jersey Shore is gorgeous, by the way. I’ve been to lots of beaches in my time and can be a harsh beach critic. This beach was breathtaking. Wide, immaculate, uncrowded beach with soft, white sand and warm water. Perfect East Coast beach time. Who knew?!

The videos of him chasing birds are on Erics phone but it was hysterical. He chased birds down the beach for what seemed like hours. “Shoo birds. Fly away birds.”
A big fan of the John Deere excavator Daddy got him.
Getting Daddy
Dear Harry – It will be many years before you will ever truly be able to “get” your father. Until then, please note the love and adoration that goes into this game that never seems to get old for you or for your parents. Love, Your adoring parents
